Wee James Tractor Run this weekend

Wee James Tractor Run this weekend

3 July 2024

A SPECIAL family fun day and tractor event takes place at the weekend to raise funds in aid of NSPCC Northern Ireland.

This Sunday marks what would have been the 22nd birthday of James Malone who sadly passed away aged just 20.

His family are organising the Wee James Tractor Run fundraiser in his memory and say the event will mark his birthday in a way that he would have loved.

James attended farm shows all over Ireland, enjoyed model farms and had a real passion for tractor runs, so there could not be a more appropriate way to celebrate his life.

Sunday’s event starts at 12.30pm at The Mill in Castlewellan and promises to be a real fun day for all the family.

In addition to the wonderful spectacle of hundreds of tractors taking to the roads at 3.30pm on the day, there will also be a host of amazing activities.

There will be hot food stalls, a tuck shop and ice-cream van, face painting, live music and a raffle with a vast array of prizes which have been donated by generous supporters.

NSPCC Northern Ireland’s community fundraising manager, Susan Smith, said the charity is grateful for the family’s support..

“The money will be used to support our vital work in Northern Ireland, helping to protect children and keeping them safe,” she explained.

“This includes our Childline service which is available 24 hours a day,

every day, for young people who need support and feel they have nowhere else to turn.”

Susan added: “We know it’s going to be such a special day for everyone attending, with the spectacular tractor run being the absolute high point and it’s a lovely way of honouring the memory of James.”
