DOWN about Down Podcast host Chris Scott enjoyed a wonderful day of music at the third annual Corner Stone Festival recently.
Held at the Sunflower Cottage in Annacloy, visitors were treated to ten musical acts during the event that showcased local talent and raised much-needed funds for the Life Change Changes Lives (LCCL) charity in Downpatrick.
It provides services to help people overcome their mental health issues, social isolation and addiction, irrespective of their age or background.
The bill included Conal Montgomery & Co, First Ted on the Moon, Every March, Short Circuit,
Rikki Jordan Band, Take it Easy, Charlie Hanlon, The Thing Is, and Zac Mac and Black Dog Moon.
Conal organised the event and said he was encouraged by the turnout.
“I’m totally blown away by the turnout and by the musicians,” he told the podcast. “There’s a peace about this place and everybody’s chilled.”
The idea for the Corner Stone Festival came after Conal had a chat with the late Nigel Blair on Belfast 89FM.
He told Nigel he would like to play a festival at which point he leant across the table to and said to him “just go and run your own, son”.
Conal said he hopes the festival can grow and not only raise more funds for LCCL, but make more people aware of the service on their doorstep as they never know when they might need it.
