Strangford hostelry to host art auction in aid of cancer charity

25 July 2012

A COLLECTION of stunning artwork will be auctioned at The Cuan in Strangford next month to raise funds for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children (NICFC).

The Cuan Guest Inn has chosen NICFC, which offers practical and emotional support to children with cancer and their families, as its designated charity for 2012.

The auction, which will take place on August 25 at 3pm in The Cuan, will feature various pieces of art donated by artists, some of which are local to the County Down area.

A spokesman for The Cuan said the team was delighted by the enormous response it had received from artists and potential buyers.

“Due to the vastness of The Cuan’s customer base, and the inability of many of them to know if they will be available on the day of the auction, the art work can be bought anytime,” he said. “Each piece has a reserve price so customers can be guided by this.”

Taking a hands-on approach to supporting NICFC, the Cuan is currently facilitating residential weekends for children with cancer and their families which includes fine food, entertainment and a range of activities.

Two members of staff also took part in the Belfast Marathon in order to raise funds for the charity while others donated their tips on a designated week.
