Mrs. Anne Fuller

MRS. Anne Fuller, of Downpatrick Road, Killough, who died on May 21, 2011, was a remarkable woman who spent most of her life abroad before returning to her homeland. She was 85.

Mrs. Fuller (née Lavery) was born on November 22, 1925, near Legamaddy, and was one of eleven children. At the age of 15 she left Northern Ireland to find work in London. She worked as a waitress and once served Winston Churchill.

She married her late husband, Len, an Englishman who was stationed at Ballykinlar army camp in the 1940s. In 1964 the couple and their family emigrated to the United States and for the next 40 years Mrs. Fuller lived between California, Oregon and Canada.

Lively and full of fun, Mrs. Fuller was a hard worker throughout her life. In 2006 she returned to Northern Ireland and set up home near Killough.

She had a strong Christian faith and her belief in the resurrection helped ease the pain of her final year. She took great comfort in the ures, including John Ch 5 verse 28: ‘Do not marvel at this because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life and those who practised vile things to a resurrection of judgement.

There was comfort also in Revelations Ch 21 verse 4: ‘And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more. Neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be any more. The former things have passed away.’

Mrs. Fuller is survived by her family.
