Mournes rescue team come to aid of farmer

17 July 2024

VOLUNTEERS from the Mourne Mountain Rescue Team went to the assistance of a farmer who suffered serious injuries on Monday night.

The alarm was raised by police just after 10pm when they asked the rescue team to assist paramedics assisting the man who was injured in a quad bike accident in the vicinity of Tullynasoo.

Ambulance Service personnel were already on scene when the volunteers arrived and had the casualty assessed but were unable to complete an evacuation due to the location.

Rescue team members and paramedics worked in tandem to immobilise and package the casualty for stretchering to a team Land Rover.

Once secured and after a short shuttle to gain road access, the injured farmer was transferred to an ambulance and taken to hospital.

Twelve rescue team members who responded to the emergency call were stood down just before 1am.
