Junior members take to the boards

30 August 2023

JUNIORS members of St Patrick’s Choral Society recently took centre stage at Down Arts Centre in Downpatrick.

The talented young people brought their two-week summer project to a fantastic end with a sell-out performance of Legally Blonde JR.

The show was based on the award-winning Broadway musical and smash hit movie, Legally Blonde and was an entertaining fun journey of self-empowerment and expanding horizons.

The show’s instantly recognisable songs were filled with humour, wit and sass.

The cast, made up of young people aged 12 to 18, took part in ten days of rehearsals.

Under the direction of Sean Harkin, director and musical director, and Alex McFarlane, choreographer, they auditioned for roles and learned music, dance routines and dialogue before the performance.

Next up for St Patrick’s Choral Society is the full company production of Joe DiPietro’s All Shook Up in early November.

Inspired by and featuring the songs of Elvis Presley, this hip-swivelling, lip-curling musical fantasy will have audiences jumpin’ out of their blue suede shoes with such classics as Heartbreak Hotel, Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock and Don’t Be Cruel.

Ticket information about this production will be released soon. New members interested in joining onstage for this production are very welcome and should contact Marie-Therese Ross at stpatrickschoral@gmail.com to register their interest.
