Carryduff pupils for Waterfront

CHILDREN from St Joseph’s Primary School in Carryduff have been selected to perform in the ‘With One Voice’ concert which is being held at the Waterfront Hall next month.

The concert has been arranged as part of a fundraising drive to provide a new MRI scanner for the Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children.

St. Joseph’s Primary School choir will perform a piece

entitled ‘Nursery Rhyme

Time’ which was specially composed for and dedicated to the school by composer Mark Dougherty.

Mr. Dougherty had worked with the children from St. Joseph’s previously and

was very keen to have them participating once again in this event.

He attended a choir rehearsal at the school last week when he shared some insights into the piece as well as describing to the children how it should be performed on the night.

“Northern Ireland is the only region in the UK which doesn’t have a dedicated MRI scanner for children,” he said.

“This concert has been organised to help raise funds for that appeal.

“Hopefully, if sufficient money is raised and a scanner can be provided, it will help to improve medical provision for children.”
