Car show in memory of Pádraig

10 July 2024

A SPECIAL car show in Loughinisland last weekend in memory of Pádraig Rogan raised money for a local child with a rare genetic condition.

Sunday morning’s event kicked off at 10am at Loughinisland GAC on what would have been Pádraig’s third birthday.

Over the past number of years, Pádraig’s parents, Clare and Patrick, have supported a number of local charities, to honour their baby boy with the weekend event raising money to support Leo Moley.

Leo was born with KAT6a Syndrome which causes physical and mental learning difficulties, as well as some abnormalities of the heart, eyes and gastro system.

Money raised for Leo will go towards therapies that have been proven to help children like him reach their full potential, equipment that he may need for his independence in the future and to help the many charities that have been with Leo on this journey.

To date monies raised have been donated to the KAT6 Foundation, Children's Heartbeat Trust, Children's Heart Centre Crumlin and The National Bobath Centre.

Leo’s mum thanked everyone who supported the event and Clare and Patrick for choosing her son as the recipient of the funds,.

“We are extremely grateful,” she said.

Businesses donated prizes in memory of baby Pádraig and there were a variety of special vehicles on display. Over the past three years, thousands of pounds have been raised in Pádraig’s memory.

“We are so grateful to everyone who has helped us to make this day happen, in memory of our son,” Clare told Belfast Live.

“To the local businesses, sporting clubs and family and friends, who have donated raffle prizes, helped the organisation or have been there for us, we want to say a huge thank you. We are so appreciative to them all and can’t say thank you enough.”

Pádraig’s parents were given a Down GAA jersey, signed by last year’s Tailteann Cup finalists, by Christina and Brendan King which was raffled at Sunday’s car show.
