FRIENDS and colleagues of
tissue viability nurse Claire Mackin have said farewell to her after 42 years’ service.
Annahilt woman Claire, who worked at Hillsborough Health Centre, is looking forward to the next chapter in her life.
The South Eastern Trust nurse said her retirement was a “total rollercoaster of mixed emotions” but she is excited about what happens next in her working career.
Claire was joined by colleagues and family as she celebrated her retirement after an incredible four decades providing compassionate nursing care.
She added: “I will miss the buzz I got from my work and I’m excited for what is ahead.”
The health trust’s tissue viability service team provide specialist wound management and preventative advice for patients.
In addition, they also provide practical support and education in wound management within the clinical setting.
Claire’s colleague and tissue viability nurse specialist Vivienne Murdoch, paid tribute to her friend and described how her “expertise” has been respected and shared by so many over the years.
“Claire has had a remarkable 42-year nursing career, almost half of which has been spent in the tissue viability team,” she said.
“Her expertise has been shared with many of our staff over this time and we know how much that has been appreciated. We wish her the very best for her retirement.”
