IT’S time to dust off those dancing shoes — Strictly Come Dancing is coming to Downpatrick.
For the first time ever, the event will be hosted by Mainstay DRP clients who live with learning disabilities and autism.
The show-stopping entertainment evening takes place at Downpatrick Racecourse on Saturday, May 26, and will have more sparkle, glitz and glamour than even the BBC can dream of.
Kate Laverty and Cyril McKinney will host the exclusive fundraiser, welcoming judges Niamh McGrady, James Wallace, Gareth Sharvin and Eleanor McCabe.
The clients strutting their stuff on the dance floor are Donna Gibney, Noel Galbraith, Harry Walsh, Sammy McConnell, Ceara McKinney, Stephen Hasset, Frances McVeigh, Johnathon Berner, Angela Killen, Derrick McAuley, Michael O’Neill and Kevin Murphy.
They will be assisted by staff members Nicole Madine, Gabriel Carlin, Niamh McDonald,Tina Dagens, Emma Beardmore and Nikki Bogues.
The event promises to be a red carpet affair to do justice to the 10 weeks of practice the couples have gone through.
The twelve client contestants will make their grand entrance at 7pm before dancing the night away to earn hard won votes before the nail-biting moment when they discover who will take home the coveted Glitterball trophy.
Tickets still on sale at £15 from Central Office, tel 028 4461 7184, and all are welcome. Queries should be sent to Kate Laverty on 028 4461 7184, option 2.
