DUNDRUM firsts secured a much-needed six wicket win over Donacloney Mill on Saturday to successfully bounce back following a disappointing defeat against Belfast the previous night.
Dundrum skipper Derrick McCann won the toss and elected to bowl first on a soft damp wicket.
Dundrum opened the bowling with Stian Swanepoel and Brijesh Krishali whilst Donacloney opened the batting with Craig Kennedy and Petrus Pienaar.
Donacloney got off to a slow, steady start with Dundrum making scoring difficult. Kennedy was run out (six) in the 11th after good work in the deep from Swanepoel.
Shane Warren (21) joined Pienaar and added 40 runs for the next wicket before Warren was dismissed off the bowling of Rodney Hassard.
This left Donacloney 82 for two at the halfway stage. Colin Russell joined Pienaar at the crease looking to accelerate the scoring but the Dundrum bowlers made scoring difficult.
Russell (32) began to take on the Dundrum bowlers, putting them under pressure, but was dismissed off the bowling of Hassard.
However, with Pienaar still at the crease Dundrum knew they needed to stay switched on.
The Dundrum bowlers continued to make scoring difficult, never allowing Donacloney to get away.
Pienaar looked to go big in the closing overs but was dismissed off the bowling of Hassard from an excellent catch from Conor Moag.
Pienaar had made an excellent 80, carrying the majority of the Donacloney batting. The Doancloney lower order attacked in the closing overs to help push them onto a competitive score.

Dundrum opened the batting with Terry Hutley and Conor Moag. However, they got off to a poor start when Hutley (one) was dismissed off the bowling of Aaron Kennedy.
This left Dundrum three for one in the opening two overs. Stuart Campbell joined Moag at the crease with the pair consolidating the score, adding 50 for the next wicket.
Moag took on the majority of the scoring, attacking the Donacloney bowling before he was dismissed for 37 off the bowling of Timothy McClure.
Campbell (14) was bowled soon after off the bowling of McClure to leave Dundrum 80 for three from 20 overs.
James Martin came in and added a quick 16 before he dismissed off the bowling of Petrus Pienaar.
This left Dundrum 100 for four from 23 overs and were looking for a big partnership.
Stian Swanepoel and Rodney Hassard dug in taking the attack to the Donacloney bowlers. Donacloney began to panic struggling to contain the Dundrum batters.
The Dundrum pair added 107 for the next wicket to take Dundrum to victory in the 46th over. Swanepoel finished on 57 not out and Hassard 50 not out.
The pick of the Donacloney bowlers was Timothy McClure, who finished with 2-36 from his ten overs.
