Police hunt man in Downpatrick

POLICE in Downpatrick are searching for a man who is on the run in the town and believed to be armed with a knife.

A helicopter is assisting officers on the ground who are investigating reports that the man was involved in an alleged stabbing incident involving a woman at the Model Farm estate this morning.

Police are currently concentrating their search on the Gallan area located at the Vianstown Road, close to the Model Farm.
