Parents in the groove to raise money

8 May 2024

A ‘FUNKY’ fundraiser in aid of Cedar Integrated Primary School, Crossgar, was held recently.

Parents, staff, friends and founders enjoyed a night of music and dancing at Finnebrogue Woods, outside Downpatrick.

It followed many other school events, including a spooky Halloween trail, Santa’s Grotto, and a sell-out movie night.

Clare Osborne, chairperson of the school’s parents’ council, said “It’s fantastic to see our school community and friendships grow whilst raising vital funds for the school.

“We’d especially like to thank Laura Bayley at Fodder Farmshop and Cafe for generously sponsoring the event. As a parent of three kids at the school she has gone the extra mile to support our events this year.

“Thanks also goes to team of parents’ council volunteers and school staff who worked so hard to create such a special event.”

The evening included music by two past parents from Cedar, Erin K Hill and DJ Jim Martin, along with talented funk trio The Living Groove.

The raffle was generously supported by The Kitroom, The Nailbar and Costcutters, Crossgar. The outdoor bar was kindly provided by Denvir’s Coaching Inn, Downpatrick.

The final fundraiser of the current school year will be a classic car show and family fun day at the school grounds this Saturday at 11.30am.
