NEWCASTLE Lions Club had another successful month of fundraising in December.
Collections outside Eurospar, Tesco and Barbican SuperValu in Newcastle and Eurospar in Clough were all well supported.
Raffles with prizes of hampers and bottles of wine at the Lions’ Christmas dinner dance held in the Burrendale Hotel increased the total sum raised to over £3,000.
Additionally, thanks to a quiz night held at the Harbour House Inn in Newcastle, over £475 was raised for Mourne Grange in Kilkeel.
The club would like to thank Tesco and Lidl for their contributions to the hampers and Eurospar in Newcastle and Clough, Tesco, Barbican SuperValu, the Burrendale Hotel and the Harbour House Inn for allowing them to use their premises for the fundraising efforts.
It is hoped that the presentation of cheques to charities including Mourne Mountain Rescue and Mourne Grange can take place shortly.
The club would like to thank all those who supported their fundraising efforts.
