2 October 2019

THE St Patrick Centre in Downpatrick recently hosted a hugely successful fundraiser in aid of the of Cancer Fund for Children’s Daisy Lodge facility in Newcastle.

Organised by Downpatrick Lions Club, the gripping murder mystery featuring The Lecale Players was followed by a meal provided by French’s Restaurant.

Entitled the ‘Victim at the Vicarage’ the September 21 murder mystery began with a prosecco reception, with guests dressed in fantastic 1940s and 50s dress.

It was a chilly Sunday evening in August when a dastardly deed happened at the vicarage of St Ignatius the Unflappable in the village of Steepy Willows, with guests invited to watch the drama closely, looking for clues to help them solve the humorous and intriguing murder mystery.

Downpatrick Lions president John Dennis, who along with a number of other Lions members has been to Daisy Lodge and met some of the people who work tirelessly for families living with cancer in young people, has thanked everyone who supported the recent fundraiser.

He said Downpatrick Lions Club was delighted to play its in fundraising for the vital purpose-built therapeutic centre.

Mr Dennis added: “Everyone who attended the St Patrick Centre fundraiser agreed that it was a unique, enjoyable experience with great interaction between the audience and the cast. Everybody left the event singing the praises of this wonderful fundraiser.”
