DOWNPATRICK footballer Conor McMenamin was the man in form in the Scottish Premiership at the weekend.
The Northern Ireland international scored both goals as St Mirren beat Hibernian 2-1 to move into the top half of the table.
He opened the scoring in the 16th minute and added 15 minutes later.
Having returned from injury against Rangers last month following four months on the sidelines, this double marks the first time McMenamin has scored this season, and he will now be looking to kickstart his career in Scotland.
The 29 year-old said: “It’s the perfect return to the starting eleven and the weekend couldn’t have gone much better.
“I had my wee girl over for the first time this year and it’s a weekend I won’t forget.
“Every time she’s here, I have a funny feeling I’ll score or do something for her. I’ll have to ask her mum if she can come back every week at this rate.
“My mum was there as well to have her here was special. Most importantly, we got three points.”
The former Linfield, Cliftonville and Glentoran star scored over 60 goals in the Irish League and will hope to replicate that sort of form across the water.
His solitary goal last season came against Celtic, but he has already bettered that tally in what was is first start of the season.
McMenamin will look to carry his scoring form in St Mirren’s next game against high-flying Aberdeen.
