Marshals deployed to police Strangford Lough crossings

MARSHALS were deployed in Strangford over the Easter holiday period to help manage traffic wishing to cross the waterway by ferry.

The Department for Infrastructure also confirmed that marshals will be deployed during peak periods, particularly bank holiday weekends until the end of the summer.

The news has been confirmed by local councillor, Gareth Sharvin, who met recently with DfI officials.

The government department has also confirmed that two ferries will be in operation at busy periods to help reduce waiting times in both Strangford and Portaferry.

“This is positive news to ensure minimal impact in the village,” said Cllr Sharvin.
