LOUGHINISLAND GAC is launching an ambitious and comprehensive five-year plan on Friday night.
Entitled The Blue Wave, the aim of the 44-page book is to provide the club and community with a structured approach to the development through to 2023.
The club’s facilities act as the hub of the local community. In addition to gaelic football, the premises host a number of groups and activities, including an annual community health and well-being programme, the Island Games, the local youth club, bowling club, Irish dancing, drama groups and La Lanterne Rouge Cycling Club.
The Blue Wave is a plan that belongs to club members and the community. It is a collaborative effort based on extensive engagement with members and wider community to identify key priorities, set realistic goals and objectives and agree appropriate time frames for the improved performance in the key business areas of the club.
These include coaching and games development, club structures and administration, finance and fundraising, facilities and development, communication, public relations and culture and volunteers and recruitment.
The club would like to thank all those who attended the community workshops and, in particular, juveniles who introduced innovative ideas on how the club can do things better.
The exercise of developing this publication has been invaluable in re-affirming the connection between the club, its members and the wider community that Loughinisland GAC seeks to serve.
The club’s primary concern now is to ensure it follows through and deliver on the strategy and action plans the club has agreed in this plan.
Working groups are being established to deliver the action plans and the club is reaching out to the community for new volunteers to assist in delivering on this exciting vision.
The Blue Wave will be launched at the senior presentation night in the clubrooms on Friday at 8pm. Everyone is welcome.
