MEMBERS of a Killinchy dance club have returned home as champions from the prestigious World Country Dance Championships in Orlando, Florida.
Kasana Dancers, which is run by Kathryn Strain, represented Ireland in solo, pro-am and team events, bringing back an array of titles and accolades from the week-long event.
The club members were Aisling Vaughan, Milo Morrison, Sophie Devlin, Caragh Moore, Abigail Elliott, Maisie Sharvin and Eryn Magee.
They showcased exceptional talent, dedication and teamwork to win an astounding 11 titles.
This included first place in the team match, as well as four second place finishes and four third place honours, as well as fourth and fifth place finishes.
One of the many highlight of the week was Aisling Vaughan’s remarkable achievement of reaching Rising Star status – a milestone which reflects years of hard work and perseverance from Aisling who has been dancing at the club for nine years.
Special recognition was also given to Milo Morrison, who was awarded the coveted Top Male Youth Student In pro-am.
Kathryn said she “couldn’t be prouder” of those who competed for their “hard work, dedication and love of dance”.
She also thanked the many people who supported the club throughout the year.
“A huge thank you to Linus Dunn-Backstrom and Siobhan Dunn-Backstrom for your incredible work dancing with all the kids in pro-am. Your dedication and encouragement make such a difference, and we truly appreciate everything you do,” she said.
“To Yvonne Dunn and Steve Dunn, your unwavering support and professionalism throughout the year have been nothing short of extraordinary. Even in the face of Steve’s illness, your commitment and effort have been an inspiration to us all. We are so grateful for everything you bring to the team.”
She added: “A special thank you to the parents and supporters who cheered us on every step of the way.
“The week was a true celebration of what makes dance so magical.”
