Harrison’s treble key for Saintfield

Harrison’s treble key for Saintfield

11 July 2018

DUNDRUM travelled to Saintfield on Saturday with a young team and only nine players, but they were determined to put up a good fight.

Dundrum were allowed to bat first and got off to a decent start as Stuart Campbell and Scott Symington put on 27 for the first wicket in five overs. However, Campbell was well caught to be dismissed for 7.

Saintfield bowled extremely well, but the Dundrum batsmen were not going to give their wickets away without putting up a great fight.

Saintfield’s Gareth Harrison then took a hat-trick, bowling fast and straight to ruin several stumps.

Luke Willamson showed his great potential as a batsman to block out the Saintfield bowlers and provide some support for Symington, who ended up on 38 — included eight boundaries —and owing many of those runs to Luke Williamson.

Greg Stewart showed potential as a batsman, hitting 10 with some lovely shots all around the pitch. Dundrum were eventually dismissed for 75 from 28 overs.

Young Rhodri Philips opened the bowling alongside Stewart and they showed off their great potential. Phillips got the breakthrough with a great catch caught by Stewart at midwicket.

James Orr was then brought into the attack and got his first wicket for the first team with a great spinning delivery, deceiving the batsman.

However, with only nine players it was just too much for Dundrum who eventually lost by eight wickets.

Even so, every player did the club proud, showing great spirit and fight to never give up against a very good team. Every single one of them showed great potential, indicating that in a few years Dundrum can be challenging for trophies.

Dundrum were also out of luck on Sunday when they lost by six wickets to Cooke Collegians. Stuart Campbell top scored with 42 and L Chhangte made 26.

Saintfield were also beaten on Sunday when Templepatrick beat them by nine wickets.
