A FIVE year-old girl has happily had her locks shorn for the Little Princess Trust.

Hannah Mairs, from Dromara, raised more than £500 for Cancer Focus by having 30 centimetres cut off her long brown hair at Eamon’s Hair Salon in Ballynahinch on Friday.

Her pigtail will now be sent to the Trust, where it will be made into a wig for children struggling with hair loss through cancer treatment or illness.

Hannah’s mum, Lyndsay, said her daughter was delighted with her new bob and had enjoyed her trip to the hair salon where she had her first proper cut.

“She has only had her hair trimmed before. She thought it was brilliant and already she has raised more than £500,” she said.

“We picked Cancer Focus because the money raised in Northern Ireland is spent in Northern Ireland and it gives great support to families with cancer.”

Lyndsay said she had previously raise money for Cancer Focus through the London Marathon and the Great North Run.
