Glee Singers set to present Wizard of Oz

10 September 2025

NEWCASTLE Glee Singers are to present The Wizard of Oz in November.

The production is part of the award winning group’s 75th anniversary celebrations with the main characters getting down to business to bring the beloved classic to life on the Annesley Hall stage.

An outstanding cast has been assembled with Susan Leneghan playing Auntie Em and Diarmuid Taggart as Uncle Henry.

Sean Trainor is The Wizard, with Anna Moore starring as Dorothy. Emma Nugent is the Wicked Witch, with Emma Jane McKnight playing Glinda.

Francis McKinney is the Cowardly Lion with his partners Josh Clarke as the Tin Man and Allen Gordon as the Tin Man.

Chris Mooney features as the Coroner, with Finbar Finnegan the Emerald City Guard.

Katy Keaveney returns to the magical land of Oz to reprise her much-loved role as the Munchkin Mayor — the cheerful leader who welcomes Dorothy to Munchkinland with charm, energy and plenty of sparkle.

This role is especially meaningful for Katy, as the Munchkin Mayor was her very first principal role with the Junior Glees.

Now, years later, she is just thrilled to step back into the character’s shoes, making this a true full-circle moment in her Glees journey.

A long-standing member of the society and proud committee member, Katy is excited to bring the magic of Munchkinland to life once again for this milestone production.

Tickets priced £25 are available now at www.gr8events.ie/gleeswizardofoz with the show dates November 13, 14 and 15 and 19, 20, 21 and 22.
