Forsythe to give people ‘strong voice’

26 June 2024

DUP candidate Diane Forsythe says she will continue be a strong voice for the people of South Down.

She said she would prioritise issues such as health, education, childcare, the local economy, infrastructure and securing Northern Ireland’s place in the UK.

“This election, like every election, puts the question to everyone – what do I want from my local representative,” she said.

For me the answer to this is a strong local voice for the area, who is dedicated to working hard, speaking up and fighting for local people and the quality service delivery they deserve.

“This is why I stepped out of my career in accounting to offer local people a representative that cares and isn’t afraid to speak up for this corner of Northern Ireland.”

Ms Forsythe said that during her two years as an MLA she had spoken up and fought for the South Down area relentlessly.

“It has been tough and a slow battle, but I have a track record of delivering locally in this short time which sets me apart from those who have not in significantly longer periods of time in office,” she continued.

“Continuing to be a strong voice for local people on important issues including health, education, childcare, local economy and infrastructure is my priority.

“Making Northern Ireland a success is my priority to secure our place in the United Kingdom and secure the future for those, like me, who live here, work here and raise our families here.”

She added: “I am proud to be part of the new generation of Unionist political representatives in the DUP and humbly ask for the support of the people of South Down to continue in this role.”
