Fire personnel deal with large gorse fire

SIX fire appliances dealt with a large gorse fire on land at the Altnadua Road outside Castlewellan on Monday evening.

The alarm was raised shortly before 6.45pm with the fire extinguished by 12.30am when firefighters left the area.

The Fire and Rescue Service advised the public to avoid the Dublin Road and the Bann Road areas while the incident was active.
