Eclipse Cinema in Downpatrick has new owners

DOWNPATRICK’S Eclipse Cinema will officially have new owners from the start of next month.

Opened to wide acclaim by the Barratt family in 2009, it is understood that a major player in cinema entertainment, which already owns a number of existing theatres in Northern Ireland, is taking over the reins.

The existing management structure will remain in place at Eclipse following the takeover and it is understood there will be no job losses and it will be very much business as usual. A formal announcement confirming the identity of the new owners is expected within the next few days.

Meanwhile, current Eclipse Cinema customers are being reminded to use any gift cards, vouchers or complementary passes before the end of November.
