THE Royal Premier League returns to Downpatrick Cricket Club next month.

Now in its fourth season, the league offers fast-paced action and a touch of international flair.

Organised by Royal Challengers Belfast, the RPL has grown to become a much-anticipated event in local cricketing circles.

This year, the tournament moves to an exciting T10 format, drawing amateur teams from across Ireland, England, and Scotland.

Matches will be played on September 6, 7, 12 and 13 with reserve dates of September 20 and 21.

Each team will play only on two designated match days, ensuring minimal clashes with local league fixtures.

There are cash prizes of £1,000 for the winners and £400 for the runners-up.

Ravi Ningegowda, from Royal Challengers Belfast, extended his gratitude to Downpatrick Cricket Club for agreeing to host the event.

“We couldn’t have asked for better hosts,” he said. The club committee has supported us from the very beginning. Their openness and encouragement help make this a true community event.”

In addition to the cricket there will be food stalls, music and live commentary, as well as an opportunity for local cricket fans to see players from different countries.

Mr Ningegowda added: “It’s more than just a tournament. It’s about people coming together—from clubs, communities, and countries—to enjoy the game we all love and rightly fits into the end of the cricketing season.
