THE South Eastern Trust has launched its autumn vaccination programme for Covid-19 and ‘flu vaccinations.

The local vaccination centre is the Downshire Hospital’s Great Hall, with the health trust’s district nursing team administering vaccines to patients who are housebound due to their medical condition.

Those who are 65 years and over and those who are 16 years old and over who are immunosuppressed, clinically vulnerable, household contacts of those immunosuppressed and known carers will be called by their GP to attend for vaccination.

Those eligible to receive their vaccines include frontline health and social care workers, pregnant women, both Covid-19 and ‘flu vaccinations.

Also eligible are those aged between five and 15 and identified in clinical at risk groups and those aged between six months and four years in clinical at risk groups identified by their paediatrician.

In addition, those aged between 12 and 15 identified as household contacts who are part of an immuno-suppressed household can receive the Covid-19 vaccination only.

A number of walk-in appointments are also available at the Oakley Room at the Downshire Hospital’s Ardglass Road base in Downpatrick this Saturday between 10am and 4pm for those aged five and over.

Paediatric clinics for children aged between five and 11 will be available on Saturdays in the Downshire Hospital’s Great Hall and those attending  vaccination clinics must provide photo identification.

Those attending who are aged between five and 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
