Connaire chases Noel to finish line

THE fifth race in the Born2Run Forest series took place in Tollymore Forest Park on Saturday and almost 700 runners showed up to the event which offered both a 10k and a 5k route.

Running conditions were perfect on the day and Tollymore provided the perfect location for this annual event which is now well-established as one of the must-do January races.

Noel McNally, of Road Runners, was the first across the line in the 10k race, followed by Connaire McVeigh, of Newcastle AC and Brendan McIlhannon in third.

The first female finisher in the 10k was Amy Bulman, of Willowfield Harriers. Karen Wilton, of Jog Lisburn, was runner-up and Chloe Gillard, of Fitness Factory, finished third.

The 5K was won by junior runner Tom Crudgington, of Newcastle AC. David Conliffe, of PACE Running finished second and his clubmate Ricky McKnight came third.

Junior athlete Lauren Madine, of East Down AC, came first in the female 5k race with her clubmate Anna Gardiner following two seconds behind to take the runner-up position. Dromore’s Lily Rimmer came third.
