Condolences to be passed on over tragic death

3 August 2016

NEWRY, Mourne and Down Council is to send a letter of sympathy to the relatives of Mr Terry Fitzsimons who died in a tragic accident during a clay pigeon shoot outside Downpatrick on July 24.

Mr Fitzsimons — who has been described as a “quiet gentleman” — was taking part in a clay pigeon shoot at Lough Money when he died following what police have described as a “tragic accident.”

His funeral service was held last week at St Patrick’s and St Joseph’s Church in Ballykinlar with burial taking place in the adjoining cemetery.

At Monday night’s monthly council meeting, local authority chairwoman Gillian Fitzpatrick extended her sympathy to relatives of Mr Fitzsimons. Councillors also agreed to send a letter of sympathy to the Fitzsimons family.
