CLARAGH Bridge Vintage Club hosted their annual presentation evening to local charities on Friday evening.

The event took place in the Oasis Community Centre at Drumnaquoile near Castlewellan. The following groups received cheques totalling £11,600, the proceeds of the club’s vintage show in July:

St Francis’ Primary School, Drumaroad (£1,000), Kids Kabin, Drumaroad (£1,000), Diabetes UK (£3,000), Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund (£1,000), Tuberous Sclerosis Association (£500), Dundrum Football Club (£300), Lisburn Action Cancer Group (£1,000), Newcastle wildlife (£300), RNLI (£500), Self Harm (£500) and Community Christmas Dinner (£2,500).

Earlier in the year the club donated £6,550 to the following charities: Daisy Lodge (£500), Conn Kelly children’s cancer (£200), Brian O’Hare’s son’s charity (£1,000), Wee James/Newry Hospice (£100), Air Ambulance (£250), The WELL (£500), PIPS (£2,000) and Chest Heart and Stroke (£2,000).

The total donated to charities this year amounted to £18,150 with the continued generous support of the community.

Club chairperson Liam Quinn presented the Senior Club Person of the Year award to Matt Rodgers and the Junior Person of the Year award to Chris McMahon.

Thanks were extended to everyone who supported the events over the past year by attending or by sponsoring adverts in the programme.

Special thanks were extended to all the helpers and volunteers for their generosity on the show day and to the Quinn family for the use of their land.

Thanks were also extended to the PSNI and to Brendan Small, Walter Watson and Colm O’Connor for lending equipment for the show.
