Christmas lights switch-on in Downpatrick

NEWRY, Mourne and Down Council is getting ready to bring festive sparkle back to Downpatrick with its Christmas Lights switch-on this November.

The festive cheer arrives in Downpatrick on Friday, November 28, with St Patrick’s Square hosting an evening of entertainment from 6pm to 8pm.

Christmas lights switch-on events have also been confirmed for Ardglass on Friday, November 28, Newcastle on Saturday, November 29, Killyleagh on Wednesday, December 3, and Ballynahinch on Friday, December 5.

Council chairperson Philip Campbell said the events were “a wonderful opportunity for our communities to come together and celebrate the start of the festive season”.

He continued: “These evenings bring people together at a time of year that can feel different for everyone and they help create busy, welcoming town centres that benefit our local economy.”

He added: “There’s no better way to start the Christmas season than celebrating with your local community.”
