Charity tournament held in memory of Brenny Valentine

Charity tournament held in memory of Brenny Valentine

5 November 2025

ON behalf of the Valentine family, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to the captains of O’Toole’s Skittle Club, Simon Walsh and Patsy Murray, and their teams, for the incredibly generous contribution of £2,060 to the Friends of Cancer Charity.

This amount was raised through the club’s annual skittles tournament this year, held in loving memory of Brenny Valentine.

The success of the event is a testament to the dedication and hard work of so many people, and we are truly humbled by the outpouring of support.

We are especially thankful to O’Toole’s skittle teams for the time, effort and care they invest in organising this event every year — their commitment to keeping Brenny’s memory alive, through this cause, means the world to us.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the many others who played a vital role in making this event possible.

Hugh O’Toole and his amazing bar staff, for their warm hospitality, Damien Mulholland, for the generous use of the field and car-parking facilities, Ryan and Paul French, for the amazing food on the day, Plus2Print, for their kind donation of the posters that helped promote the event, and Simon Walsh, of Island Events, for the fantastic music and entertainment, which truly brought the event to life.

Thanks to your collective efforts, we are thrilled to share that a total of £14,387 has been raised for the charity since its inception.

This extraordinary sum would not have been possible without the support of those who travelled from near and far, as well as everyone who generously donated raffle prizes or contributed in other ways.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the community spirit that has made this event so special year after year.

Your kindness and support are a shining example of what can be achieved when people come together for a cause close to their hearts.

This year’s winner was one of our own, with Lawerence Tumelty winning it for the second time, along with his partner, Madden’s Joe Smith.

Once again, thank you all for your unwavering support, hard work and generosity. You have made a meaningful difference in so many lives, and we will forever be grateful for your kindness.
