CROSSGAR motocross star Ryan Jackson has been crowned both a British and Irish champion in an action-packed recent few weeks.
At the beginning of the month, the 14 year-old claimed top honours in the Big Wheel category at the AMCA British MX Championship before most recently securing the Irish MX Master Kids Big Wheel Championship title.
“We are very happy and so proud of Ryan,” said proud dad Dean.
“He puts such hard work into the sport and to see him rewarded for those efforts is amazing.”
Along with his B/W Gas Gas MX bike, Ryan made the trip to the seventh and final round of the British championship at Lower Drayton in second place in the standings, trailing the leader by eight points.
But, Ryan was only in the runner-up spot after previously having to choose between racing an earlier round in either the British or the Irish competition, after the two had overlapping schedules.
“Ryan had been flying in both the British and Irish championships but on one occasion both of the events ran on the same day,” explained Dean.
“Because he already had a sizeable lead in the British competition at that stage, Ryan chose to race in the Irish event on that occasion.
“Due to him missing that round, he entered into the final British race in second place but did enough to get the points required to win the title.”
This was Ryan’s second successive victory in the British championship, having won the Small Wheel category last year.
And then, just two weeks after his most recent British triumph, Ryan would once again find himself top of the board.
This time his efforts at Magilligan MXPark in Limavady for the final round of the Irish championship earned him the title of Master Kids champion in the B/W 85cc category.
“Ryan has been interested and involved in the sport since he was just seven years-old,” said Dean.
“Every weekend he is out on the local tracks, constantly trying to improve his skills and is very dedicated.
“Our family has a camper van and for his races in England and Scotland we would leave on a Thursday before returning home again Sunday.
“He has put a lot into his passion so he deserves all of his achievements.”
Ryan also notes that his racing career wouldn’t be possible without the generous sponsors, family and friends who have continuously supported him thus far.
