DUNDRUM bowed out of the Ulster Club Championship when they had to give way to an experienced Belnaleck side from Fermanagh at Pairc Esler on Sunday.
The visitors made a flying start and two points from Ciaran McBrien had Dundrum playing a chasing game.
Belnaleck had a strong wind in their backs in the first half and took full advantage as they raced into a 0-9 to 0-1 lead by the interval, Dundrum’s only score coming from the boot of Kieran Walsh.
Just as in the county final against Bright, Dundrum sent for Paul McComiskey at this stage of the game, but Belnaleck continued to plunder scores through Bryan Owens, Dermot Lewsley, Darragh McGurn and the accurate McBrien to take an eight-point lead.
It could have been even worse for Dundrum as ’keeper Mark Smith had to make a crucial save to deny McBrien a certain goal.
A goal and two points at the start of the second half gave Dundrum some hope, but they were unable to maintain the momentum.
Eamon King grabbed the goal with Cormac Venney and McComiskey tagging on points, but despite
having their lead cut to there points, Belnaleck netted in the 37th minute and pulled further away
with points from Heavey and McBrien.
McGurn added a second goal in added time before Ciaran Rice cancelled that out with a second goal for Dundrum.
