Ballynahinch Camera Club members hold final competition of the season

19 March 2025

BALLYNAHINCH Camera Club members held their final competition of the season last Thursday evening.

The Charlie Rutledge Mono Competition is named after one of the founding members of the club in 1979 and is a firm favourite in the club calendar.

Charlie was an enthusiastic and popular member of the club, always ready to help others and give advice.

His passion was black and white photography and the competition was set up in his memory.

On Thursday night, 56 images were entered and judged by Brian McClure from Central Photographic Association in Belfast.

The winners Frances Price with ‘Matthew’, Terry Hanna was second with ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ and Keith Wilson was third with ‘Fred’.

Brian Shields, Alan Chowney and Muriel Darling were highly commended, while Frances Price, Mark Donnell, Keith Wilson and Alan Chowney were commended.

This Thursday the club will have a speaker talk about a genre of photography known as intentional camera movement or ICM.

This will be particularly useful for club members as one of the themes for the competitions next season will be ICM.
