A CO Down artist’s latest exhibition of local landscapes is now open for viewing at The Sir Hans Sloane Centre in Killyleagh.
Maire Gaffney’s current exhibition, entitled ‘Catching Light’, is set in and around Killyleagh and Strangford.
Having lived and worked for many years in London, Maire, who is originally from Gilford, now lives in the Armagh countryside which has reignited her passion for art.
She is instinctively drawn to landscapes, particularly those around Strangford Lough that have inspired her on numerous visits to Killyleagh.
The Sir Hans Sloan Centre is well known for supporting local artists and next Monday it is hosting an open day from 2-4pm, with Maire offering visitors the chance to meet and chat about her work on display.
Maire says it can be difficult for emerging local artists to find space to display their work and described he opportunity to exhibit as “brilliant”.
She continued: “The light and landscapes of Killyleagh are an artist’s haven and I’m glad to be able to show the results of the inspiration it offers.
“The Sir Hans Sloan Centre is a bit of a hidden gem with a gift shop, patio and botanic garden where you can relax and enjoy the weather with a complimentary cup of tea and coffee and take a walk along the water’s edge before you leave refreshed, body and mind.”
The ‘Catching Light’ exhibition runs until next Tuesday.
