Ardglass lady captain Angela enjoys her day

3 August 2022

THE highlight of a lady golfer’s year is Lady Captain’s Day.

After Covid-19, the lady captain, Mrs Angela Casey, chose the theme for the week – - Party - and her choice of prizes reflected that.

Mrs Casey received a lot of support, not only from the ladies committee and members but particularly from her three sisters and brother, Patrick, who all play at Ardglass.

Lady Captain’s Day turned out bright and warm although a little breezy. A total of 76 lady members and guests dispersed to all tee boxes for a shotgun start at 10am.

After play everyone retired to the McAfee suite in the clubhouse for afternoon tea.

In the afternoon, 20 male guests of the lady captain played in what proved to be rapidly deteriorating weather.

After an enjoyable evening meal for members and guests the highlight of the day was the presentation of the prizes with the lady captain’s sister, Geraldine Mageean, winning the lady captain’s prize.

The lady captain congratulated all the prize winners and thanked the club and everyone involved in the successful running of her day.

Kathleen King delivered her traditional poem dedicated to the lady captain. The evening concluded with music and dancing.
