Annual enrolment service

Annual enrolment service

16 October 2024

THE annual enrolment service of Second Ballynahinch Boys’ Brigade company took place in Ballynahinch Congregational Church on Sunday evening.

The church and overflow wing were full as the company chaplain and church minister, Rev Dr George Speers, welcomed the large congregation of family and friends.

He paid tribute to the ongoing encouragement from parents and the many volunteer leaders and helpers engaged in the work of the BB on a weekly basis.

The Anchor Boys sang ‘Shine form the Inside Out’ to the congregation and closed the service with their Anchor Boy prayer.

Company Section member Joel Bell read from God’s Word from John 1:1-18. The second Bible reading was read by Junior Section member Olly Chambers, who read from Colossians 1: 15-23.

The challenge of maintaining the attention of the boys was down to the guest speaker Mr Philip Kelly.

Philip is a past member and officer of the Second Ballynahinch BB Company. It was great to renew fellowship with Philip and hear him speak on the Lord Jesus Christ.

BB company captain Mark Bell has called on all boys to join the adventure at 2nd Ballynahinch Boys’ Brigade.

He said: “Today we are passionate about building bridges into the local Ballynahinch community and engaging children and young people by means of weekly groups, special events, local, district and province-wide competitions, community involvement and training programmes.

“The Boys’ Brigade offers an experience of life beyond what is possible in school or at home. We believe that by participating in exciting activities, making new friends, having fun and finding out about faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the children and young people can discover and develop their potential.”

The Second Ballynahinch company meets in the Congregational church halls, Dromore Road, every Monday evening between September and Easter from 6.15pm to 9.30pm.
