ST Patrick’s Choral Society will be presenting the beloved family musical, Annie, at the Great Hall, Downshire Estate, Downpatrick, next week.

The show runs for five nights, from Tuesday through to Saturday, starting at 7.30pm,  along with a special Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.

Set in 1930s New York, Annie tells the heart-warming story of a courageous young orphan whose optimism and determination inspire everyone she meets – from the other girls in Miss Hannigan’s orphanage to the billionaire, Oliver Warbucks.

Packed with unforgettable songs including Tomorrow, It’s the Hard-Knock Life, and You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile, this timeless classic promises an uplifting night of musical theatre for audiences of all ages.

Following their award-winning production of The Sound of Music earlier this year, the same creative team returns to bring Annie to life.

As St Patrick’s Choral Society approaches the end of its 63rd year, the group continues its proud tradition of staging high-quality productions featuring talented local performers, musicians and lots o other creative people.

Founded in 1962, the society has been entertaining local audiences for over six decades, nurturing generations of performers and remaining a vibrant part of the Downpatrick community.

“Annie is one of those shows that never loses its appeal,” said Gary Warnock, director of the production.

“It’s full of great music, strong characters, and a story that audiences of all ages can enjoy.

“Our cast and team have put in a huge amount of work, and we’re really looking forward to sharing it with everyone.”

Tickets for the show cost £18, with a group discount available for bookings of 10 or more. Tickets can be purchased via Ticketsource or by emailing stpatrickschoral@gmail.com.
