A STUDENT at Shimna Integrated College in Newcastle has been accepted on to a highly competitive programme for young people hoping to go to university.
Sixth form student Ana McKee has been accepted on to the Sutton Trust Online programme, a national initiative designed to support high-achieving students in their journey toward higher education.
The STO programme, spanning 18 months, offers comprehensive guidance on university applications, including personal statement workshops, admissions test preparation and exclusive webinars with experts.
It aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed at university or secure an apprenticeship.
Ana, who aspires to study Law at university, will benefit from the programme’s tailored support, enhancing her understanding of the legal profession and strengthening her university application.
Ms. Joanne Poland, assistant vice-principal at Shimna Integrated College, described Ana’s acceptance as “a testament to her dedication and ambition”.
She said: “This opportunity will provide Ana with invaluable resources and experiences, bringing her closer to her goal of pursuing a career in law.
“We are immensely proud of her achievement.”
