A public consultation on plans for a new Ballynahinch Lidl store will be held next week.
The pre-application public information event on ‘the proposed erection of discount foodstore’ – on a 0.79-hectare Belfast Road site beside the Glas-Seal NI factory and opposite the High School Ballynahinch – will be hosted in Harry’s Mates Café in the town’s Market House on Tuesday (1 September) between 3pm and 7pm.
A dedicated website (lidlballynahinchconsultation.com) on the proposal states: ‘Lidl Northern Ireland is bringing forward proposals for a new, modern store located off the Belfast Road, Ballynahinch.
‘Before finalising and submitting the planning application to Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, the project team is inviting the community to comment on the plans and share your feedback.’
It is highlighted that the proposed store is ‘a Lidl “Type 15” supermarket, which has a net sales area of c. 1,499 square metres’ and that it ‘will sell a mix of everyday food and household products, as well as other goods’.
‘It will be located on the northern part of the site and will be accessed from Belfast Road to the southwest of the site,’ the website adds.
