DROMARA Village player-manager James Costello says he finally has “the headache I’ve always wanted” as the Bellsbridge outfit prepare to begin their new season against Holywood on Saturday.
A busy summer in the transfer market has seen Dromara strengthen significantly, with Conor Curran, Elliott Rea and Rhys Flanagan all joining the club.
Callum Mills has returned from Lisburn Distillery, while arguably the club’s biggest coup was the signing of highly rated 19-year-old Kian Mulholland from Newcastle Town.
Mulholland impressed for the Seasiders last season and attracted interest from several local clubs before opting to put pen to paper with Dromara.
The arrivals offset the departures of Ben Hanna, who has emigrated to Australia, Dessie McCartan, who has returned to Newcastle Town, Clint Thompson, who has moved back to his native Fermanagh, and Carl Coburn, who has signed for Lisburn Rangers.
Costello admitted he is delighted to have secured all of his targets.
“We identified five players we wanted to bring in at the end of last season and we’ve managed to sign all five, filling the positions we wanted to strengthen.
“The club have really backed me in bringing players in, so I can have no complaints. The players I wanted, I got, and in terms of the squad we’ve got now, I couldn’t be happier.”
