Ten-year-old Ronan Molloy is trying to keep up with his charity work.
The local boy, from Ballynoe near Downpatrick, is raising money in July for The Bobby Moore Foundation for bowel cancer research.
To raise funds, he is completing 100 keepy-ups every day throughout July.
Ronan’s dad Patrick explained: “He set his goal at the start at just £200 as he knows people are getting it tough, but he was amazed to reach this in just two days.
“A massive thanks to everyone who’s donated so far! We’ve raised it £100 at a time, to which he’s now currently standing at £690 on day nine out of 31 days.”
Ronan wanted to do something to raise awareness for cancer, as it is something that has affected his family.
His grandad Colm Grant is from Annalong, and his great-grandad Brian is from Belfast. Both were diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Patrick said: “He heard that his grandad Colm was recently diagnosed and learned of the seriousness of cancer.
“He has high hopes that his grandad will beat this.
“He wanted to do something to help raise money to help with the research into it.
“As I explained to him about charity support, he asked more about it until we looked up one he’d like to do if he was to do one, and came across the football-related Bobby Moore Foundation.”
