THE sun shone and the rain stayed away as the Killyleagh Summer League action continued into week five.
It has been a summer like no other for the league, ranging from a coldest May-time start to sunshine for week two, but week by week organisers have been keeping a close watch on the weather forecast.
TINIES
Alfie Sharvin had a memorable debut in the Tinies section and rounded it off as one of the runners-up in the penalty king competition. There were starring performances from Theo Gurr, Archie Brown, Caleb Taylor, Reuben Oakes and Shayne Ross. For the girls, Ember Clarke, Amelia Green and Aoife Brown impressed.
The Tinies Penalty King was Shayne Ross with Ember Clarke the Penalty Queen.
MINORS
In Wednesday night’s action, Sophia was outstanding in her tackles and passes for her team, while Arabella and Lottie worked hard in midfield and defence. Elijah and Carson had some great tackles against one another. Lorcan and Elliot showed amazing defensive skills. Cianan, Arlo and Robbie have come on amazingly in the last few weeks and produced great performances.
The Penalty Queen was Arabella Thompson, and the Penalty Kings were Axel, Elliot, Cianan and Cody. Special thanks to Jacob Walsh for doing nets. A special mention goes to Ollie, who saved five shots in a row before the ball went in.
JUNIORS
Eliza Cheevers, Eva Gurr and Faye Northrop starred for the girls in the Junior section, with Eliza claiming the title of Hot Shot this week. Among the goalscorers were Regan Pickering, playing up a grade.
The Penalty Kings were Ryan Jess, Lewis Morrison, James Brown and Finn Patterson.
SENIORS
It was a case of ‘girl power’ in the Senior section, with Seren Carr, Hope Morrow, Isla Savage and Maddison Quigley starring, and more than holding their own against the boys.
Other Senior girls who caught the eye included Bella Henderson, Alesha Healy, Georgia McConnell, Molly Quigley and Violet Woodside. Leyton Savage, Ned Keenan, Jacob Walsh, Laughlin Fisher, Riley Pickering, Jacob Watters, Adam Jess, Matthew Quinn, Carter Bielby, Carter McAllister, Jude Magill, Dylan O’Connor and the Berezun twins also impressed.
The Senior Penalty Kings were Jacob Walsh and Leyton Savage, with the Senior Penalty Queens Georgia McConnell and Hope Morrow.
