Saintfield Striders enjoyed another action-packed week of running, with members taking part in events ranging from local 5ks and coastal races to the rugged Mourne Mountains and even the streets of Helsinki.
A large Striders contingent headed to Killough for the Born2Run Coastal Half Marathon and 10k on Saturday, an event renowned for its stunning scenery and smooth organisation.
Runners enjoyed spectacular views across the coastline towards Rossglass, St John’s Point Lighthouse and Tyrella, with ideal conditions helping to produce a day full of strong performances.
In the half marathon, Ben McCaughtry led the way for the club with an excellent 1:28:34, followed by Alan McCaughtry in 1:38:42.
Elaine Emo completed her first-ever half marathon in superb style, finishing with a brilliant PB time of 1:47:33.
Dawn Bannatyne finished strongly in 1:48:59 alongside Brian Swain (1:48:11), while Jenny Fitzsimons crossed in 1:55:30 and Julie Healy clocked 1:57:23.
Luisa Givan celebrated a PB with an excellent 2:03:42, while Gillian McCaughtry also rang the PB bell with a determined 2:39:54 finish.
In the 10k event, Peter Davison produced an outstanding run to finish third overall on the podium in a rapid 36:46, while Catherine Ross, Oonagh McElhinney, Christine Smyth and Catherine Griffith all produced strong performances.
It was a superb day of racing, camaraderie and coastal views.
