Ulster Hockey Minor Cup Final
Ballynahinch 6
Bangor fifth XI 1
BALLYNAHINCH Hockey Club’s men’s team delivered a commanding performance on Sunday as they eased past Bangor HC’s fifth XI with a 6-1 victory in Belfast to claim the Ulster Hockey Minor Cup.
The game, played at Playball, Stormont, started exactly how Ballynahinch wanted, taking an early lead through Alex Millar after some sharp attacking play.
Bangor responded well and got themselves back into the contest at 1-1, enjoying a spell of pressure and creating chances, but David Chadwick in the Hinch net produced some excellent saves to keep things level.
That resilience paid off as Hinch stepped it up again, with Alex Millar completing his hat-trick before the break to give Ballynahinch a strong 3-1 advantage at half-time.
The second half belonged to the men in blue. Millar was in unstoppable form, adding two more goals to cap off an incredible five-goal performance. Captain Stuart Hunter then put the icing on the cake, finishing well to make it 6-1 and secure the Minor Cup in emphatic fashion.
It was an all-round team performance from Stuart McKee’s side, with every player playing their part and working tirelessly for each other throughout.
Ballynahinch Hockey Club would like to thank all the supporters who came down to watch the game at Stormont, your backing means everything to the team.
