Woman rescued after petrol bomb attack in Saintfield

A woman has been rescued from a house in Saintfield after the property was targeted in an overnight petrol bomb attack.

Police say the incident is being investigated as arson, after the object was thrown through the window of the property.

It happened in the Manse Court area of the town, shortly after 1am on Wednesday, April 1.

Officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

A detective sergeant said: “At approximately 1.15am, it was reported that a window had been smashed and a petrol bomb had been thrown into the property, causing it to catch fire.

“Officers along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended and a female resident was rescued from house.

“This is being treated as arson with intent to endanger life and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anyone suspicious in the area or to anyone with CCTV, doorbell or other footage that could assist with enquiries to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 65 01/04/26.”
