A FORMER Downpatrick woman has died in Australia.
Geraldine Tucker, who was a member of the O’Neill family from the Model Farm area in the town, passed away at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne on February 20.
Thirty seven year-old Mrs. Tucker, who was married to Bryce, recently gave birthday to the couple’s first child Charlotte Ellen Rose.
Mrs. Tucker, who lived in the Colac area in the western district of Victoria — about two hours from Melbourne — was taken from her local hospital to The Alfred Hospital by air ambulance. She was suffering from a brain haemorrhage.
Mrs. Tucker’s sister Donna Lennon said the family are “devastated they have lost someone so loving and beautiful.”
She said the family are struggling to come to terms with what has happened and their thoughts are very much with Bryce and his new born baby at this tragic time.
“We are all devastated and in a state of shock. Geraldine was a fantastic wife, daughter and sister. We will all miss her so much. Her passing leaves such a huge void.
“Geraldine was a lovely person and we can’t believe she is no longer with us,” Donna added.
In addition to her husband and daughter Mrs. Tucker is survived by her parents Gerard and Patsy, sisters Donna, Roseleen and Gemma and brother Paul, all of whom are currently in Australia.
The funeral service for Mrs. Tucker, who moved to Australia seven years ago, is being held next Monday, February 27, in Colac.
