DOWNPATRICK photographer Bobbie Hanvey launched his latest exhibition on Friday night in a packed Down Arts Centre.
Over 100 guests attended the official opening ceremony for the About Faces exhibition which is based around Hanvey’s page of photographs in the Down Recorder.
The exhibition was opened by Judith Gillespie, the deputy chief constable of the PSNI, who paid tribute to the photographer’s skill at bringing something special out of his subjects.
Former Ombudsman Maurice Hayes, who has been a friend of Hanvey’s for many years, gave a humorous insight into the photographer’s career and recalled some of his better known subjects.
Hanvey paid tribute to the staff at the Down Arts Centre, including Arts Manager Ian Davidson, Denise Griffiths and Rachel Kennedy, for their hard work in staging the exhibition.
The exhibition, which will run until the end of February, is dedicated to the memory of former folk singer and documentary film maker David Hammond.
