A 15-YEAR-OLD boy who allegedly stabbed his friend after a drugs binge during a weekend away in Killough has been released on bail.
The boy, who cannot be named due to his age, faces charges of attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon with intent and two counts of criminal damage.
At the High Court on Friday, it emerged the 19 year-old victim was attacked at a holiday home in Killough last Sunday morning and that the accused claimed to have taken 40 ‘blues’ pills in the previous 48 hours.
Prosecutors said that after the stabbing he allegedly said: “I hope that went into his heart.”
The victim later underwent surgery for a punctured lung at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
Lord Justice Coghlin described the stabbing as “an absolutely frenetic attack on another person, bringing him close to death”.
Despite reservations, he ruled that the accused could be bailed to live at an address in Killough. The conditions are that he has no contact with either the injured party or another friend who was at the scene.
